Trademark Fundamentals

A trademark is the means by which buyers distinguish one person's goods and services from those of another. By virtue of its use in commerce, a trademark comes to embody the reputation of a particular maker of goods or provider of services, and so comes to represent the good will that a company or tradesperson builds in the marketplace. Thus, a trademark, as a mark of quality, assurance, and pride, becomes a thing of inestimable value.
